Crafted in France from natural plant-based wax with just a hint of beeswax, it’s finished with four cotton wicks for a clean burn and carefully scented with lightly smoky and sweet notes of wild grasses, parched wood, immortelle flowers and red earth — a love letter to the beauty of the Arizona desert. Then, there’s the vessel. Inspired by antique pottery design, this delicate fluted dish was handmade in Astier’s historic Paris workshop using black terracotta clay from the Paris Basin, pressed into a handcarved plaster mold and coated in the brand’s signature milky white glaze — a slow-paced traditional process straight from the Middle Ages that gives each piece its own unique charm.
