Serve up old-school elegance with our stunning Astier de Villatte Heron Dinner Plate. This pretty piece is a collaboration between two of our favorite makers — the legendary ceramicist Astier de Villatte and celebrated designer John Derian — and takes its inspiration from classic Dutch delftware. A type of tin-glazed pottery made in the Netherlands since the 16th century, delftware’s iconic blue-and-white palette and elegant designs were in turn derived from traditional Chinese pottery. Talk about art inspiring art! Handcrafted in Astier’s Paris workshop using locally-sourced black terracotta clay, this serving platter is dipped in the brand's signature milky white glaze and finished with hand-painted florals and graceful herons sourced from Derian’s expansive collection of antique imagery, creating a dead ringer for authentic delftware. Sure to bring a sense of history to any serveware collection, we especially love our Heron Dinner Plate mixed in with other dishes from our Astier de Villatte Ceramics Collection. Outside of the dining room, it’s also perfect hung on the wall for a bit of vintage charm.
