While it may be small in size, this sculptural dish is sure to command attention thanks to its curious, three-dimensional face and rows of minuscule dotted texture. Handcrafted in Astier’s historic Paris workshop, it’s made from black terracotta clay sourced from the Paris Basin, which is pressed into a handcarved plaster mold and finished with their signature milky white glaze that lets hints of that natural clay color shine through. This slow-paced, traditional process results in perfectly imperfect finished products, each with their own unique personality — a loving tribute to Paris’ history as a center for handmade artisan goods. A très chic (and très unique!) addition to any space, we love our Astier de Villatte Ivan Dish as a catchall for jewelry, spare change and other tiny treasures or as a surprisingly elegant kitchen spoon rest — although it would also be stunning all on its own as the objet d’art that it is!
